On January 16, Ocean Investments marked an important milestone with the Ocean Evolution kick-off event — the official start of a new phase in how the group operates, collaborates, and creates value.
This was not simply the launch of a journey. It was a moment of alignment around a shared direction: building an organizatiоn made up of decentralized teams that operate comfortably and confidently on their own, while staying deeply connected to Ocean’s long-term vision and values.
Ocean Evolution: A Journey Years in the Making
As early as 2020, in the context of growing global uncertainty, we recognised that long-term resilience requires decentralization — especially as the group continues to grow in scale and complexity.
The first steps were gradual. We focused on reducing dependency on a small leadership core by expanding the management group from three people to over 30. This helped distribute leadership and decision-making, but over time, it became clear that leadership distribution alone was not enough.
By the end of 2024, we began exploring decentralization models that extend beyond management structures — models that address how value is created, how teams operate on a day-to-day basis, and how decisions are actually made. In 2025, this work crystallized into Ocean Evolution — our own concept of a hybrid decentralized ecosystem, driven by zero distance to the customer, small autonomous teams, and clear team agreements.
The lessons learnt through experimentation last year have shaped the next step in our journey in 2026. A journey that brings structure, shared language, and focus to this ongoing transformation — a pioneering initiative in Bulgaria, designed specifically around Ocean Investments’ unique needs, scale, and goals.
Why Ocean Evolution?
As Ocean Investments continues to diversify across business verticals, the need for agility, clear ownership, and faster, better-informed decision-making becomes increasingly critical. At the same time, our ambition reaches far beyond short-term performance.
Ocean Evolution exists to help us build a resilient organization — one that can endure changes in leadership, ownership, market conditions, and external crises, while enabling us to live our values fully: health, freedom, happiness, guild, and righteousness.
At its core, Ocean Evolution is about moving away from dependency-heavy, centrally controlled structures toward small, autonomous teams that operate close to clients, take full responsibility for outcomes, and continuously learn and adapt. This is not decentralization as an ideology, but decentralization as a practical path to resilience, accountability, and sustainable value creation.
The Principles Behind Ocean Evolution
Ocean Evolution is guided by a small set of principles that shape how we design teams and ways of working:
- Decentralization with a purpose, focused on resilience and eliminating single points of failure
- Small autonomous teams with clear responsibility for results
- Zero distance to the customer, enabling faster learning and better decisions
- Transparency and value sharing, creating trust and real ownership
- Gradual evolution through feedback, rather than radical, one-off reforms
These principles allow teams to act independently while remaining aligned with a shared direction and a common set of values.

The Purpose of the Kick-off
The Ocean Evolution kick-off event brought together the first wave of teams embarking on this journey. Its goal was clear: to create shared understanding, alignment, and momentum from day one.
During the event, participants were introduced to the guiding principles and goals that define the transformation, the Ocean Evolution journey and its structure, and the mentors who will support teams throughout the journey
More importantly, the kick-off set expectations — not just around outcomes, but around mindset. Ocean Evolution requires curiosity, openness, and a willingness to rethink established ways of working.
The event created space for questions, reflection, and honest conversation about what this change means for teams and the group of companies as a whole.
The Role of Mentorship
A key pillar of Ocean Evolution is mentorship. Over the next 12 weeks, each participating team will be supported by experienced mentors who will act as guides, sounding boards, and challengers when needed.
Rather than simply prescribing solutions, mentors will help teams:
- Translate principles into concrete ways of working
- Strengthen internal alignment and communication
- Build confidence in autonomous decision-making
- Navigate uncertainty and complexity

This support ensures that teams are not navigating change alone, but are steadily building the skills and habits required for long-term independence and resilience.
Looking Ahead
The kick-off event marked the beginning of the next chapter — not the end goal. Ocean Evolution is an ongoing commitment to building an organization that is adaptable, resilient, and deeply human at its core.
As the first wave of teams progresses through the Ocean Evolution framework, their experiences and learnings will shape the next phase. Step by step, Ocean Investments is building a future where teams are trusted, capable, and confident to lead from where they are.
The course is set. The journey continues.
