Every year, March 8 is often associated with flowers, gestures, and traditional celebrations. But this year, at Ocean Investments, we chose a different perspective — March 8 Without Labels.
Instead of focusing on expectations or roles, we turned our attention to something deeper: the importance of community, empathy, and women supporting women in both professional and personal spaces.
To mark the initiative, we invited Bulgarian TV host, writer, and communicator Irina Tencheva to join our company podcast for an honest conversation about the connection between women, the challenges many women face today, and the importance of building supportive communities. Because sometimes, the most meaningful celebration is not symbolic; it is a conversation that inspires change.
Why Women Supporting Women Matters Today
Women today have more opportunities than ever before. Yet, paradoxically, many still experience moments of isolation, pressure, or comparison.
In our podcast conversation, we explored a key question: why does the need for community between women feel stronger than ever today?
One possible answer lies in the pace of modern life. Many women are balancing multiple roles — professional, personal, and social, often feeling the pressure to manage everything independently. But trying to navigate everything alone can create distance between women rather than connection. When women choose support over silent competition, workplaces become more collaborative, conversations become more open, and individuals feel more confident expressing themselves.
Community is not only emotional support — it is a powerful cultural shift.

Building a Culture of Empathy in the Workplace
A key theme in the discussion with Irina Tencheva was empathy. Empathy is sometimes underestimated in professional environments, yet it plays a fundamental role in creating healthy teams and strong communities. When women feel seen, heard, and respected, several important things happen:
-
communication becomes more authentic
-
trust grows within teams
-
collaboration replaces comparison
-
people feel safe to share ideas and challenges
Often, the most meaningful support does not come from grand gestures but from small everyday actions: listening, encouragement, recognition, or simply being present for someone. These gestures may seem small, but their impact can be significant.
From Competition to Community
One of the challenges discussed in the podcast was the culture of comparison that sometimes exists between women. Social expectations, media narratives, and professional pressure can unintentionally create environments where women feel they must compete rather than collaborate. But change begins with awareness. When organizations encourage mutual respect, open dialogue, and empathy, a different dynamic emerges — one where women lift each other up rather than measure themselves against one another.
At Ocean Investments, initiatives like this are part of a broader commitment to building a workplace culture based on community, wellbeing, and meaningful dialogue.
